| My equipment today | |
|
Most of my equipment in the early days was homebrew or purchased used. I wish I had the foresight and kept some of that stuff around. In the mid 70's I started purchasing new equipment and have been fortunate to be able to keep up the trend. |

Kenwood TS-870S with matching speaker, SP-30 |
|
| This is a great radio! I have had it since November 1995. It operates 160 through 10 Meters with the exception of 60 Meters. |

| Elecraft K3 | |
| This is my Elecraft K3 (#4305). It was purchased in assembly kit form at the 2010 Dayton Hamvention. It is a slick radio and I am far from learning all I should know about its operations. So far I have operated mainly CW with a few minutes on 6 meter SSB. It has quickly taken over the primary radio slot in the shack, but the TS-870S is not far behind. |

Yaesu FT-897D |

| Ten-Tec Argonaut 5 | |
| This radio arrived in December 2002. It operates 160 through 10 Meters. The Argo 5 has great QSK. | ![]() |
| Kenwood TR-9130 | |
| This radio is a 2 meter all mode. It belonged to my late father, WA2UTE. It doesn't get much use, but it will always be part of my shack. |

| Antennas | |
| Comet H-422 Quad Band HF Dipole | |
| I received the H-422 from my wife for
Christmas 2007 and we put it up on 16 February 2008. For the first time in years
after putting up this antenna stations heard
me on 40 meters. Note The antenna has been set for the V configuration. I would like to have it horizontal and about 40 feet higher - oh well. |

| This is the base and balun on the H-422. The antenna is fed with Belden RG-8X. You can see the shortener on the SPI-RO AS-2 out of focus in the background. The AS-2 was replaced by the PAR Electronics end fed dipole for 30 Meters on 6 June 2009. |
|
| Par Electronics End Fed 30 meter Dipole (EF-30) | |
| This is the newest addition to my antenna farm (antenna farm?). It is a Par Electronics end fed dipole for 30 meters. It has been up since 6 June 2009 and has done well so far. Yes, there is an antenna in all that greenery. It is hard to believe the RF actually reaches out to the world. |

| M2 6 Meter HO Loop | |
| The loop antenna was put into
service to give 6 Meters a try. This was done mainly to go back to
my Ham Radio roots. My first real success as a ham was on 6 meter
AM after I upgraded to a Tech. I have worked several stations with this antenna even in its poor location, but improvement is needed. So far the incentive is not there to improve conditions. |
